a rambling post.

Yesterday was the last day for our Management Policy presentations. It was hosted in the Planetarium. Palm was the company. There were Christmas lights, decorations, swing music, and food as we were ushered into the party. Josh, Nathan and I headed for the back and rested our weary heads on those nice over-sized cushiony seats. The only odd thing was seeing the planets (with major black light effects) plastered all over the walls. Cameron was an incredible speaker and he welcomed us to the Annual Christmas Board Meeting and mentioned several names of people who had done quite well in Sales, R&D, Finance, etc. Ex. “Josh, your records show that you improved 40% this year in Sales…everyone give him a hand!” *clapping* Of course, Josh stood up with a bewildered look on his face because we were roleplaying this entire meeting. We were divided up into groups and given beautifully wrapped gifts. Palm’s latest…the Tungsten. $500 a piece!!! They held a piano contest (on the Tungsten), showed an absolutely hilarious video clip, and gave a 75 minute speech on Palm. It was by far the most incredible presentation I had seen. (Of course, Josh’s presentation on JetBlue was great- they built an airplane set that we all had to sit in and roleplay that we were on one of their flights.) I just don’t understand Cameron’s logic on buying $2,000 worth of Tungsten’s though. The project isn’t worth two grand to me.

Side note: the video clip that was shown was sooo funny. It featured two trams side by side. A beautiful woman is sitting drinking coffee and reading the news on her Palm. She casually glances out the window into the other tram to see the most gorgeous man reading on his Palm. Their eyes meet, smiles grow larger, breath quickens…and their expressions turns to horror as they feel the trams pull apart. Quickly, the man aims his Palm at hers and they beam each other’s numbers to each other. The end.

Mom and I went to Books-A-Million last night to pick up some gifts for Teacher Appreciation Week at her school. I felt as though I was betraying Barnes & Noble to even walk through the smudgy glass doors…but alas, I was forced to. Once inside I just stood there. I didn’t know where to go. At B& N, I immediately find my way around…perusing the latest business magazines, sipping a white chocolate mocha, picking out a new leather journal, listening to the Sarah Brightman cd just one more time, counting all of the Brian Andreas’ books I’ve yet to buy, curling up on the couch with a Nicholas Sparks, flitting into the Sci-Fi with open eyes…it’s all an art that I practice weekly. However, the inside of BAM merely confused me. The books are spread out all over the place. They had very few cozy areas and the smell of coffee could only be detected if you happened to ramble over to look at the map section. I finally discovered We Blog and settled into a musty grey leather chair and began reading. *sigh* It’s just not the same.

My Pastor’s wife is in the hospital after some minor surgery and so Mom and I stopped by to see her. The construction around the hospital is pathetic and it took us a good 4 hours just to walk from the parking deck to the front entrance. Alright, I’m slightly exaggerating. We found her room and goodness, that lady will be beautiful no matter if she’s at the point of death. When she wakes up in the morning she is drop dead beautiful. Olive skin, coal black hair, dark eyes…etc. *Jealous moment* Anyway, she is doing well and Pastor was fussing about Steak-Out having been an hour late (which had to be annoying) and their youngest boy was munching away on Chick-Fil-A. He is such a cute little boy.

Pre-registration. Isn’t that pointless? It’s either registration or not registration. Why the pre? I am a senior in the university. It’s not as though I can’t possibly figure out how to bubble in the sheet or decide if my schedule is appropriate for my situation. No, we have to have our schedules approved by our advisors in pre-registration and then, and only then are we qualified for registration which occurs next week. Pointless, I tell you! The classes I have lined up for the spring are: Business Law, Business Stats, Entrepreneurship (correspondence…and I’m going to finish it over Christmas), Old Testament Poetry, Oral Communication for the Profession, and Counseling Techniques.

My little red book of poetry is just filled with all sorts of good stuff.

Meeting at Night

The grey sea and the long black land;

And the yellow half-moon large and low;

And the startled little waves that leap
In fiery ringlets from their sleep,

As I gain the cove with pushing prow,

And quench its speed in the slushy sand.
Then a mile of warm sea-scented beach;

Three fields to cross till a farm appears;

A tap at the pane, the quick sharp scratch

And blue spurt of a lighted match,

And a voice less loud, thro’ its joys and fears,
Than the two hearts beating each to each!

– Robert Browning (1812-1889)

My meeting with the DOW was concerning my absences from class. I had received two letters stating, “Dear Jennifer, Our records indicate that you have been reported absent from one or more courses on numerous occasions….We have known of day students who sometimes stay out of classes unnecessarily (gasp!)…please do all that you can to attend each of your classes so that you can receive the most from your educational experience.”

No problem. *wink*

Nathan H and I began singing “The Prayer” after he had too much eggnog (gross) and I had too much apple cider. It was actually quite comical and we had a slight applause. The song is beautiful and the Christmas music had overwhelmed us.

Josh and I did just that…played funky piano music.

And the boy with the green hair? Well, he was just really funny and I kept giggling and that would make him laugh harder. My mom shook her head at him and when we left the store she whispered, “Drat! That boy’s hair was awful.” *grin*
