a year full of things that have never been.

I woke up later than usual this morning and scurried through the house, preparing breakfast and getting bananas chopped and toast ready before going to bring Drew down.

Of course, he was still sleeping. And sleeping HARD. He and Daniel were both snoring like crazy so I just let them sleep. And they both slept until 11:00!!!

So, we had a late breakfast. And then a late New Years Celebratory lunch with all the wigglies that one is supposed to eat on New Years Day. It was my own version of Hoppin’ John.

I tried to teach Drew to say “Happy New Years” but it just came out like habah doo ya. Which is better than chikah butt. I heard him muttering that while watching a stranger walk down the street a day or so ago. Apparently he’s caught on to my silly “what’s up, chicken butt” junior-high style humor that Daniel has to deal with daily. 😉

Anyway, I’ve had to keep Drew on Tylenol all day because his teeth are giving him fits and his fever rises quickly if he’s off of the medicine. I used to use these wondrous teething tablets and put them under his tongue but I’m out of them right now.

We headed to a New Years party this afternoon at Jon & Aimee’s house. Lots of our new friends were there and it was really a lot of fun spending time with them all. Of course, the Wii Fit was the center of the party. I never got my nerve up to try snowboarding on any of the other games but Daniel did and he was pretty good! Drew was in heaven because there were toys HE HAD NEVER SEEN BEFORE (Jon & Aimee have 3 kids = lots of wiggly toys).

This is a picture of Drew and his little friend Danny playing the drums during the party.

We ended up leaving the party earlier than we’d planned because Drew was fighting sleep so poorly (he hadn’t napped at all earlier in the day). I just tucked him in bed a few minutes ago and he sweetly hugged me and said, “night night Mommy.”

The rest of our evening will be relaxation + working on the guest room. It’s a bit mussed as we have a family friend coming to stay with us this weekend as we all traipse down to Maryland for a Christmas/New Years party.

I hope you all have had a lovely New Years Day!
