I love Saturday’s in which you don’t have plans. Well, other than laundry that I need to catch up on.
I woke up with a horrible cold so I think today will consist mostly of sitting on the couch, catching up on Grey’s Anatomy & Private Practice, delving into my stack of books-to-read, and playing with Drew.
Daniel is working in the basement right now, Drew is napping, and I’m cooking an odd concoction on the stove. I just leaned over it to let the steam attack my cold and WHOA OH MY WORD. I’m making leek soup, by the way, which was made popular in French Women Don’t Get Fat.
They smell very yummy but I’m not sure about it. One of the other books I was reading this week actually mocked the leek soup recipe so badly that I felt ashamed that I had a pile of fresh leeks in my refrigerator. Oh, well. It isn’t that I’m afraid my husband or friends think I’m bouboum. I AM bouboum. I’m just curious if this will break my current addiction to all things sugar, bread, chocolate, bread, and oh, did I mention bread?
And, if I give in and eat grilled cheese sandwiches by this evening, I can at least boil more leeks to help my cold.
How were your leeks? I made a really weird dinner of meatballs in funny sauce, vegetable pizza, ham salad, deviled eggs and cheesecake. So not healthy. Or normal.
All mixed together? Ew.
Otherwise, sounds awesome.
They were REALLY good. Surprisingly. But I got sooooooo hungry and my sugar started dropping. So I ate some grapes. And then a banana. And then a cheese sandwich. 😉
I think I’ll perhaps eat them again. With something else. I have some left over in the fridge but I did tell Daniel to please shoot me if I get crazy and go on some air + cardboard (i.e. JUST leeks) fad again.
I’m such a sucker for things like that. 😉
Ha! Cheesecake sounds yummy. But I agree with Daniel…mixed with all that? Eww. Hehe.
We were supposed to have a party last night and we cancelled and only Paul’s parents and cousin came over to eat… I was going to make spinach artichoke dip in bread bowls, too, but Paul veto’d, as we already had a buncha food. It was meant to be finger foods and such. Oh, well.
I’m really craving Chinese. Or a grilled chicken blt from Cracker Barrel. Mmm.
I’m scared of leeks. Eep!
leeks are awesome! but i prefer them as part of something else….like with mushrooms in a wine sauce over chicken. much better:)
